1. Overview
At MegaConvert.io, we want you to be satisfied with our service. This Refund Policy explains when and how you can request a refund for purchases made on our platform.
We offer refunds for pay-per-use conversions that fail to produce any output, and a 14-day money-back guarantee for new subscriptions. Please read the details below carefully, especially regarding the inherent limitations of file format conversion.
2. Definition of Service Delivery
Our service consists of processing and converting files from one format to another using automated conversion engines. The service is considered fully delivered when:
- Your file has been successfully uploaded and processed by our conversion engine.
- An output file in the requested format has been generated and made available for download.
The service is considered delivered regardless of whether the output file meets your subjective expectations regarding formatting, layout, or visual fidelity. File format conversion is an inherently imperfect process (see Section 5), and producing a converted output file constitutes completed service delivery.
3. Pay-per-Use Refunds
3.1 Eligible for Refund
You are entitled to a full refund of a pay-per-use purchase only if:
- The conversion completely failed and no output file was produced at all.
- The output file is entirely empty (0 bytes) or cannot be opened by any application.
- A verified technical error on our servers prevented the conversion from completing.
3.2 Not Eligible for Refund
Refunds are not available when:
- The conversion completed successfully and an output file was generated — even if the result differs from your expectations.
- Formatting, layout, font, spacing, or visual differences exist between the input and output file. These are inherent to the conversion process and do not constitute a service failure (see Section 5).
- You changed your mind after a successful conversion.
- The source file you uploaded was corrupted, password-protected, DRM-protected, or invalid.
- The output file has been downloaded.
- You chose an inappropriate target format for your needs (e.g., converting a complex XLSX to CSV and losing formulas).
3.3 Time Limit
Refund requests for pay-per-use purchases must be submitted within 24 hours of the purchase. Requests made after this window will not be considered.
4. Subscription Refunds
4.1 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee
New subscriptions (both 6-month and 12-month plans) come with a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the Service within the first 14 days of your subscription, you may request a refund.
- Within the first 14 days: You will receive a pro-rated refund based on the remaining days in the guarantee period, minus the value of any conversions already performed during this period (calculated at pay-per-use rates).
- After 14 days: No refund is available. You may cancel your subscription at any time, but no refund will be issued for the remaining subscription period.
4.2 Renewal Refunds
If your subscription auto-renewed and you did not intend to continue, you may request a refund within 48 hours of the renewal charge, provided you have not performed any conversions during the new billing period.
5. Format Conversion Limitations
Important: Please read before purchasing
File format conversion is an inherently imperfect process. Different file formats store data differently, and some information may be lost, altered, or approximated during conversion. This is a fundamental technical limitation, not a defect in our service.
By using our service, you acknowledge and accept that the following differences may occur and do not qualify for a refund:
- Font substitution: If your file uses fonts not available on our servers, similar fonts will be substituted. This may cause text reflow, spacing changes, or visual differences.
- Layout and formatting changes: Complex layouts (multi-column, text boxes, headers/footers, tables) may shift, resize, or reflow during conversion, especially between document formats (e.g., DOCX to PDF, PDF to DOCX).
- Image quality: Images may be recompressed, resampled, or have their resolution changed during conversion. Color profiles may shift between color spaces.
- Feature loss: Format-specific features (macros, formulas, animations, interactive elements, embedded objects, comments, metadata) may not transfer to formats that don't support them.
- Encoding differences: Character encoding, special characters, right-to-left text, and Unicode characters may render differently depending on the target format.
- Audio/Video quality: Transcoding between lossy formats (e.g., MP3 to AAC) inherently introduces generation loss. Bitrate, sample rate, and codec differences may affect output quality.
- Archive contents: File permissions, symbolic links, and OS-specific metadata may not be preserved when converting between archive formats.
It is your responsibility to verify the converted output meets your requirements before relying on it. We strongly recommend using the free tier to test conversions before making a purchase. Any formatting corrections needed after conversion are the user's responsibility.
6. How to Request a Refund

Your refund request must include:
- Your email address associated with your account.
- Your Payment ID or Transaction ID (found in your payment confirmation email or dashboard billing section).
- The original source file you uploaded for conversion.
- The output file you received (if any was generated).
- A clear description of the issue, explaining why you believe the conversion failed.
Incomplete refund requests will not be processed. We require both the original and output files to verify the issue. Refund requests citing formatting differences, layout changes, or visual quality concerns will be declined per Section 5 of this policy.
7. Processing Time
Once your refund request is approved:
- Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days.
- The refund will be credited back to the original payment method used for the purchase (PayPal account or credit/debit card).
- Depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take an additional 3–5 business days for the refund to appear in your account.
You will receive an email confirmation when your refund has been processed.
8. Exceptions
We reserve the right to deny refund requests in the following circumstances:
- Abuse of the refund policy — Repeated refund requests that suggest misuse of the Service (e.g., converting files and then requesting refunds).
- File already downloaded — If the converted output file has already been downloaded to your device.
- Formatting complaints — If the refund request is based on formatting, layout, or quality differences that fall under the limitations described in Section 5.
- Bulk usage — If you have performed or downloaded a significant number of conversions before requesting a refund.
- Terms violation — If your account has been suspended or terminated for violating our Terms of Service.
- Fraudulent activity — If we detect fraudulent payment activity associated with your account.
- Chargebacks — If you initiate a chargeback with your payment provider instead of contacting us first, we reserve the right to suspend your account and contest the chargeback.
9. Subscription Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard. When you cancel:
- Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
- You will not be charged for the next billing period.
- No refund is issued for the remaining time in the current period (unless within the 14-day guarantee window).
- Your account will be downgraded to the free tier when the subscription expires.
